HOW TO PUT UP WALLPAPER: A SIMPLE & EASY GUIDE
A few years ago, I was still a novice at wallpaper. Although I was eager to learn and jump into any DIY, wallpaper didn't appeal. Interior designers in gurgaon matched the pattern, mixed the dough, covering the light switch, all of it seemed so overwhelming. When I decided to wallpaper my bathroom, it was enough. I had to learn how to do it. It wasn't as difficult or stressful as I thought. I have done more wallpapering since then and learned what to do and where to cut corners.
This article will help you to make your wall look good, while also making it easier and less stressful to do so. . This guide will help you determine what you need, and how to overcome any potential wallpaper problems.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
These are the essentials for wallpapering:
Wallpaper is a must, but not enough. Measure the wall's width and height, and then download a wallpaper calculator online. The details of your wallpaper will be available on the seller's site, on the back or label of the roll, if any, and on the pattern repeat. These details will be needed to determine how many rolls you'll need. This article uses wallpaper by Harlequin called "Sumi". You can purchase it here.
Wallpaper paste. Do not mix your own wallpaper paste. Instead, use ready-to-use wallpaper paste in a sealed jar. This will save you time and reduce waste if you have to wallpaper in stages.

Wallpaper application brush. Instead of large combs looking like handles, choose one with a handle. These will be easier to fit in the pre-made pasta containers. Your dolls will appreciate it.
A plumb line measurement tool. These tools can be purchased at DIY stores. They are worth the investment if your plan is to use a lot of wallpaper. If you're only creating a feature wall, you can download a free plumb-measuring app for your smartphone.
You will need a sharp knife to cut wallpaper or a pressure knife with a pair of scissors. A knife is more convenient, but scissors work best when you have to cut wallpaper pieces that are soaked in glue. To cut the paper from the roll, you will need scissors.
Tape measure and pencil
Use a few clean rags for smoothing the wallpaper.
A wallpapering table (it costs around PS10 at DIY stores).
PREPARATION WORK
Check that your walls are dry and clean. Before wallpapering, address any areas that are "problem areas", such as moisture.
Use pliers to remove any nails, hooks, or screws. Fill large holes with filler. You can buy pre-mixed tubes at the DIY store for a fraction of the cost. Sand the holes before you apply the wallpaper to prevent bulging.
Getting Started:
To begin, pick an area that is "easy" to work with (without outlets or light switches). Start with an area that is less visible once you are done (e.g. if furniture passes in front). This will ensure that even if you make a few mistakes in your first two strips of wallpaper, it won't be a disaster.
To make sure that the wall is straight, measure the length. Add approximately 20cm to this measurement. Interior designers in Gurgaon roll the paper on a pasting table. Next, using a tape measure with a pencil mark the area where the paper needs to be cut. Fold the paper in half, making sure that it is flush with the edges. Then cut the first strip.
Use your fixture or plumb tool to draw a straight vertical strip along the wall. It should be close enough to your first strip's edge, but not too far from your first roll. This vertical line will be your guide for applying the paper. Do not be deceived by baseboards, door frames or ceilings as they are often at an angle.
APPLY YOUR FIRST STRIP
Once you've cut your first piece and drawn your plumb, it is time to attach it to the wall. La regla del papel tapiz siempre ha sido que pegas la pared y pegas el papel, pero realmente no entiendo por que. himself. Instead, I give the wall a good coat of glue. First place a roller against it and mark the distance to glue. Then stick a piece of paper at the corners. First, place a roller against the wall and mark the distance to glue. Then stick a small piece of paper in the corners.
Place your strip on the top of your wall. Smoothen it with a clean cloth. Smoothen the edges of the paper from the middle. Don't worry if it doesn't work. Take a deep breath and gently peel off the paper. Be sure to use gentle strokes to avoid creasing the paper. After you are satisfied with the paper's appearance, smoothen the edges with your rag.
Use your fabric to push the paper up so that it meets the crack in the ceiling. This will create a faint line which will be used as a guide for cutting the excess.
REMOVE THE EXTRA PAPER
Either cut the line freehand or insert a straightedge in the crack to cut along it. If the knife is too difficult to use, you can pull the paper off the wall and use a pair or scissors to cut the jagged lines. These options are all good, but be patient and take your time with the wallpaper. You might be cutting too much paper. Scroll down to see my quick fix!
THE SECOND STRIP- MATCHING UP WITH THE PATTERN
Because you cannot measure it and glue it, the second strip can be more challenging than the first. You must match the pattern. It can be either very easy or quite difficult depending on what wallpaper pattern you choose. You can make a lot of scrap with patterns that have a high repeat drop.
Slowly roll the roll against the first strip, until you see the pattern. If there is a lot of scrap paper on the top, mark it so that you can remove what you don't need. Your second strip should take into account the length of your wall, the excess at top, and the extra 10 cm allowance at the bottom.
This second strip will allow you to be completely focused on matching the pattern and finding the edge of your first strip. Do not overlap your papers as it will cause the pattern failure and make your paper look "lifted" against a wall.
Place the edges of the papers together, and then slide the paper down and up until the pattern is complete. After this is done, you can gently rub the paper away from the edge that corresponds to the fabric.
HOW TO MAKE CORNERS
Corners can be mastered by focusing first on the wall in front of you, then moving on to the next wall. Begin by arranging your border as usual, and then rub your fabric gently over the corner of the paper. You don't want to press too hard on the corners.
When you're satisfied that the paper meets the corner and is flush with the previous strip, lay the paper on the second wall. Make a cut in the paper where the corners meet with the ceiling using your scissors. This will allow you to fold the paper onto the second wall.
Take another cut at the bottom where the paper meets the corner of your baseboard. Next, smoothen the paper across the wall from the corner up to the edge. Be sure to not peel the previous strip of paper. If it has, lift it gently and gather it. Then, smooth it against the wall.
HOW TO DO DIFFICULT AREAS:
The most frustrating thing about wallpapering is the outlets and switches. The wallpaper should be hung as it was before. However, don't smoothen it too much. Make a small cut with your scissors at the central point where the socket or switch is located under the wallpaper. Cut the paper from the center of the socket to the edges. Once the socket is exposed, press the paper against the wall until it is completely exposed. Use your cloth to gently smoothen the edges of your socket/switch. Next, use your knife to make final cuts. The rest of the strip should be smoothed towards the outlet/switch.
HOW TO FIX COMMON MISTAKES
You will make mistakes. But don't panic. These mistakes can often be corrected. These errors can often be corrected, even if they seem bad right now.
My most frustrating and frequent mistake is cutting too much paper after removing the excess. Interior designers in gurgaon you don't have to worry about it. Just go back to the piece you cut and re-glue. Avoid overlaps and respect the cutting line. Rub the paste onto your finger. The paste will become much more noticeable when it dries.
Smoothening the paper with a cloth can prevent air bubbles. You can avoid air bubbles by smoothing the paper with a cloth. Because pulp and paper are designed to stretch, they will dry quickly.
Chipped edges indicate that there isn't enough paste around the edges of the paper. Apply some paste to the tip of your index finger. Next, run your finger along the edge of the paper. Use your cloth to smoothen the paper.
